The C’s are a family of 4: The Cooxes — Amanda & Brian, and The Cats — Jado and Clemmy.
Starting with the smallest…
Cuban-born and raised, Clemmy and Jado are brothers who joined our family in April 2017 as little babies. They bring us so much fun and joy, but also many headaches and sleepless nights.
Amanda also gives Brian some sleepless nights, as she plots to save the world, and steals the covers.
Brian and Amanda are both from San Diego (North County), CA, and were married in 2014, although they first met in 2002. They lived in the Bay Area (San Francisco, CA) after Amanda finished grad school and they got married. In late 2016, Brian took a job with RQ Construction, based in San Diego. They offered him a job and asked him to consider working on a project in Guantanamo Bay for a short time. Amanda’s health was really suffering, due to contracting Lyme Disease, and the career opportunity for Brian was right, and sitting on a beach resting for Amanda was a pretty good deal too.
By training, Brian is an Civil & Environmental Engineer with a focus in water systems. He received his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from UC Berkeley. He currently works for RQ Construction and has enjoyed designing and managing a road and pipeline project in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. In his spare time, he enjoys playing video games, leading worship, playing guitar, learning to code, and reading.
Amanda is a master planner and go-getter, and she has used these skills in the past few years as a Project Manager at Apple. She recently has switched back to her technical roots and has worked as an Engineer on Server and networking projects for Apple’s Content Delivery Network team. She has her MBA from Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from Biola University. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking gluten-free recipes, doing audio engineering at church, completing home-DIY projects, reading, hiking, and organizing. During their time in Guantanamo Bay, she has been on a medical leave, fighting off Lyme Disease and trying to recover so she can get back to saving the world.
They’re a good team, where Amanda pushes Brian to go fast, be adventurous and take risks, and Brian helps Amanda slow down and rest at times. It’s our hope to be able to use our skills to honor God and help those around us.
